New Zealand. Bank of Australasia Fifth Issue. 1913 Fifty Pounds. Perkins, Bacon & Co London. Wellington domicile. S/N 8,598. Clifford B571.
Established in 1864 in New Zealand, the Bank of Australasia merged with the Union Bank of Australia in 1951 to form the modern-day ANZ Bank.
An incredibly rare New Zealand 50 Pounds banknote that predates the iconic Lefeaux 50 Pounds by 21 years. A fresh example on the market of the last series of large-sized notes, surfacing after many decades in private ownership from the Waekanae Hoard. Extremely rare, with only three examples of this issue known in private hands.
