Spink hosts world-renowned public auctions for significant rarities and entire collections, offering unmatched access to a worldwide audience. With Aventine's domestic presence, we offer New Zealanders an unparalleled global advantage by maximizing their collection's visibility and value, all whilst dealing locally with New Zealand's market-leading numismatic firm. 

The Sales Process

Initial Consultation: Contact us for a complimentary, no-obligation assessment of your item(s) for auction from anywhere in New Zealand. Based on your specific needs, we can recommend the most suitable course of action — a consignment to Spink or a direct cash purchase.

Shipping & Administration: Once your items are with us, Aventine manages all logistics on your behalf — including secure shipping via private couriers or direct flights to London where required. We maintain a comprehensive insurance policy with Lloyds of London, ensuring security throughout every stage of the process.

Auction Placement: Following evaluation by Spink's independent specialists, we will advise on your item(s) most suitable placement in an upcoming auction.

Fees: Aventine offers market-leading commission rates in New Zealand that are perhaps the lowest offered to the public  — ranging from a maximum of 7.5% to even 0% for choice items. This all-inclusive fee structure on your item’s hammer price covers every aspect of the process with no hidden or additional fees, including but not limited to:

• Aventine & Spink's Sale Commission
• Freight & Insurance  
• Applicable GST and VAT 
• Customs ( Import & Export ) Clearance and Duties 

Reserves: Vendor reserves can be arranged upon request to help ensure your item(s) meet your minimum sale price.

Cash Advances: An interest-free cash advances may be offered to select clients upon request, subject to assessment of your items. 

Pre-Sale and Post-Sale Updates: Consigners/Sellers have live access to Spink's auction platform ( no sign-up required ), with full visibility of online sales results.

Settlement: Payment for item(s) sold through Spink is typically made within 35-45 working days of the auction’s close upon a successful sale. Expedited settlement options — including full payment within three working days — are available upon request.
