Auction Process Overview

Spink hosts world-renowned public auctions for significant rarities and entire collections, offering unmatched access to a global audience. With Aventine's domestic presence, we offer our New Zealand clients an unparalleled advantage by maximising their collection's worldwide visibility and value while dealing locally with New Zealand's market-leading numismatic dealer. 

Step-by-Step Consignment Process

Initial Consultation: Contact us for a no-obligation assessment of your item(s) for auction anywhere in New Zealand. We can recommend various options to match  your unique requirements, such as an auction consignment to Spink or else an outright cash purchase. 

Shipping & Administration: Aventine handles all logistics once your item(s) are submitted for auction, including shipping via private couriers—and even direct flights when necessary—and holding full insurance coverage through Lloyd's of London, ensuring the safety of your items throughout the entire process. 

Auction Placement: Once Spink's independent specialists have evaluated your items, we will confirm their most suitable placement in an upcoming auction.

Fees: Aventine provides market-leading competitive commission rates, from 0% for select items to a maximum of 9.9%. This comprehensive and all-inclusive commission rate, with no additional fees, includes, but is not limited to: 

• Aventine & Spink's Sale Commission
• Private Couriers & Insurance  
• Applicable GST and VAT 
• Customs ( Import & Export ) Clearance and Duties 

Reserves: Vendor reserves can be negotiated upon request to ensure your items achieve your desired minimum price. 

Cash Advances: An interest-free and substantial cash advance assessed based on your item(s) can be offered to select clients on request. 

Pre-Sale and Post-Sale Updates: Consigners/Sellers have live access to Spink's auction platform, and all sales results will be available to view online.  

Settlement: Payment for your item(s) sold with Spink is completed within 30 working days after a sale closes. Please enquire about our premium terms for full auction settlement to be made within 3 working days. 

You will receive a detailed settlement statement from us that includes the final sale price, the applicable commission deducted, and a confirmation of the amount to be paid to your nominated bank account.
