How It Works

  1. Get in touch with us

    Complete our basic form — it takes about a minute.

    The form asks whether you have photographs of the item(s). They aren't necessary, but greatly help us provide a more accurate response to your enquiry.

    Prefer email? Contact us directly on sales@aventine.co.nz and we’ll respond the same way.

  2. We review

    Your submission is assessed by our Katalognator AI software and reviewed by one of our human specialists. We can assist by informing you:

    • whether it’s something we specialise/trade in;
    • whether a valuation is worthwhile;
    • which route is likely to serve you best — outright purchase, public auction, retail consignment, or a referral elsewhere

    Group photographs of item(s) are welcome and make the process faster for you.

    We also welcome walk-ins during open hours and appointments at our office in Auckland or via our satelite branches in Christchurch and Wellington. For substantial collections, our specialists can arrange to meet you elsewhere in New Zealand.

  3. Next steps

    If its worthwhile, you’re welcome to bring your items to our Auckland public office — or else we can send you a prepaid, signature-required NZ Post CourierPost bag so item(s) can be transported to us safely.

Inherited a Collection? Not Sure Where to Start?

We regularly assist executors, trustees and families who have inherited coins, banknotes, medals or bullion and simply want to understand their options.

You don’t need to sort, identify or catalogue anything first. Describe roughly what’s there and we’ll take it from there on what’s worthwhile.

If you need a formal written valuation for insurance, probate or estate division, we provide that as a separate service — mention it in your enquiry and we’ll explain what’s involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the review free?
Yes. There is no charge to have your items checked out through a preliminary review.
Do you buy entire collections or estates?
Yes. Whole collections and estates are among the things we handle most often. Group photographs of multiple items are welcome and make things easier for you.
Will you buy outright, or sell on my behalf?
Either. Depending on the items, we may make an outright purchase or place them in a public auction. We’ll advise which we believe suits you best and explain why.
How are offers calculated?
We quote on an outright settlement basis. A premium timed-payment rate is available on request.
Can I send items by post instead of visiting?
Yes. We can dispatch a prepaid, signature-required NZ Post CourierPost bag to you.
What if my items aren’t valuable?
We’ll tell you if the item(s) aren’t of commercial interest for resale.
Where are you, and can I visit?
Our public office is at 31E Bartley Terrace, Auckland, 0624, New Zealand. Visit during open hours or by appointment nationwide within New Zealand.
