II An Accidental Issue

The 0/K prefix was accidentally issued by the printers Thomas De La Rue. The intended prefix was K/0 — letter over number — rather than 0/K, with the number preceding the letter.

III An Incredible Rarity

Only 14 examples are recorded to survive in the latest specialist research published in Banknotes of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (1934–1967) by Bob Haese. 2026 New Zealand Coin & Banknote Catalogue Value $20,000 NZD in Very Fine. This PMG VF25 example was discovered alongside several other banknotes that had apparently been put away as change sometime after 1956 in a cigar box.
