The 2018 Armistice Day coin signifies the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's dedication to commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. It follows the Anzac coin minted in 2015, remembering the Centenary of the Australian and New Zealand lands on Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. Together they represent the sacrifice service personnel and their families made to bring peace to New Zealand. These two coins are New Zealand's only colourised circulating coins.
