The 1935 Waitangi Crown represents one of the most significant New Zealand numismatic items, depicting the pivotal agreement representing the establishment of the Treaty of Waitangi on 6th February 1840. Featuring on its reverse, a finely detailed depiction of Ngāpuhi Māori chief Tāmati Wāka Nene and New Zealand's first governor William Hobson shaking hands beneath a crown, along with the inscription "NEW ZEALAND CROWN 1935 WAITANGI". On the obverse, the portrait of King George V, surrounded by the inscription "GEORGE V KING EMPEROR".
